TITLE:            After-School Program Teacher/ Part Time

 

SUPERVISOR:     Site Director

 

DEFINITION:   Part-time position providing academic support in the areas of math and communication arts. Individual will work with students in grades K-12 in a non-school hour program at the after-school program sites to improve MAP test scores.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Provide one-on-one and/or group tutoring and instruction.
  • Tutor students 5 days/week for 2.5 ours each day.
  • Provide supervision of youth (ages 6-18).
  • Tutor students in reading and math.
  • Quantitatively and qualitatively assess progress of program participants and document progress.
  • Communicate with parents and teachers and provide written progress reports on individual students.
  • Maintain files and records documenting amount of service provided to each participant and description of services.
  • Submit monthly reports to Site Director, Program Manager and Vice-President of Community Services.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven ability to work with academically challenged youth.
  • Mathematical concepts, algebra.
  • Communication skills, listening skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of difference learning styles of children.
  • Measure of effectiveness of their strategies.
  • Reading ad language arts concepts.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education
  • Missouri Teaching Certificate

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires the ability to speak, see, and hear.
  • Requires the frequent movement about the office.
  • View the computer monitor.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to handle unexpected situations arising from administrative or operational issues.

 

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Normal managerial administrative duties.
  • No unusual demands.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Well-lit office with good heating, cooling and ventilation system.
  • Handicapped accessible.
  • Good office equipment.
