Through a partnership with the St. Louis Housing Authority, Provident has an excellent track record of preparing participants for sustainable employment through education, counseling, job readiness training, job placement, clinical case management and other supportive services for those living in public housing and seeking to become self-sufficient.

In 2004, 70 clients of Family Skills Development received 2,032 hours of service.  Eighty-five percent received clinical assessments and completed a customized service plan. Eighty-six percent completed life skills training designed to facilitate social adjustment and increase life skills.  Eighty-eight percent completed a work readiness component which focuses on training and skill building, job placement and economic development.  Of these, 77 percent obtained employment and 100 percent increased knowledge and understanding of home ownership and savings. One hundred percent of clients with open cases received in-home counseling to address family functioning issues, stress, anger, depression, nutrition, substance abuse, domestic violence and sexual abuse, and the clients' ability to increase their skills and secure employment.  Of these, 75 percent increased their baseline Global Assessment of Functioning score by 5 points.
