TITLE: Educational Specialist
SUPERVISOR: Program Manager
DEFINITION:
Provide intensive case
management and outreach services to targeted population to improve their
educational, vocational and employment attainment as well as reduce or
eliminate the participants’ barriers to self sufficiency. Identify educational resources that would
address the client’s educational barriers.

are and exhaust all options in efforts to help the participant become
successful
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Administer and score assessments on every client
to determine their educational, skill level and/or needs
- Review all scored assessments and tests with
clients individually
- Develop rewards for clients to acknowledge
accomplishments within the program
- Complete all documentation in a timely manner
(ex. progress notes, reports, treatment plans, etc.).
- Work on a team with other staff to develop and
help client achieve goals of the Treatment Plan.
- Provide intensive case management services to
clients to address their needs
- Conduct surprise and scheduled home visits
- Provide supportive services to the client and
his/her family.
- Meet with the Client’s employer to monitor job
performance.
- Collaborate with Substance Abuse Counselor to
ensure that client is receiving the best treatment.
- Transport the client to various places in the
community in efforts to help the client reach goals listed on the
treatment plan.
- Meet with community partners, other agencies involved
with the participant and local agencies to establish firm linkages, to
advocate on the client’s behalf, and ensure appropriate services are being
rendered.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality
- Ability to develop a Treatment Plan with
achievable goals
- Ability to develop a rapport with clients
- Ability to work as a member of a cohesive team
- Ability to maintain acceptable and appropriate
professional decorum
- Must have a chauffeurs license or obtain one soon
after employment
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have Master’s Degree in Education preferred. Master’s Degree in Counseling also
accepted.
- Must be autonomously mobile in accessing a
variety of neighborhood-based facilities where meetings and programs are
held.
- Experience working with low to very low income
clients
- Experience working with resistive clients.
