In October Provident kicked off a brand new case management program called SWIFT – Successful Work Incentives for TANF. This program is a partnership between ARCHS, West End Mt. Carmel Community Outreach, The Women’s Safe House and Provident, and is being funded through the Missouri Department of Social Services. SWIFT will serve clients receiving TANF benefits (Temporary Aid for Needy Families), whose benefits have been sanctioned by the state.
The primary focus of this innovative program is on employment. The SWIFT
program will serve 300 St. Louis City and County TANF recipients using
a transitional jobs model with intensive case management. Upon entering
the program, clients will quickly be placed into a job and start
receiving a paycheck through the program. Clients will also receive a
Client Support Specialist (Case Manager) who will assist them in
removing the barriers that have led to their benefits being sanctioned.
SWIFT's case management will focus on job/life skills training, housing
and transportation assistance, child care referrals, health care access
and financial literacy. Special services related to mental illness,
substance abuse and domestic violence will also be available. Tamala
Stallings, who heads Provident’s Case Management programs, will serve
as Program Manager for SWIFT.
Welcome
to Gwen Anderson, who has just joined Provident’s staff. Gwen will be
serving as case manager and helping Provident get this exciting new
program started.
