LUTHERAN FOUNDATION OF ST. LOUIS GRANT WILL STRENGTHEN PROVIDENT’S EX-OFFENDER PROGRAMS
St. Louis, MO Provident received a grant award from The Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis on November 6, 2009. The $61,000 award will support case management services, basic needs and group therapy for ex-offenders.
In the state of Missouri, 90% of prisoners will reenter communities after serving their sentence. In many cases, ex-offenders lack the basic essentials (housing, clothing, employment, food, and transportation) to succeed outside of prison.
Through programs like Project ReConnect and SOT (Sex Offender Treatment), Provident works to facilitate a successful transition to a productive non-criminal life for our clients. Provident is committed to “No More Victims.”
Opportunities for ex-offenders to live as productive members of society are important to create safe neighborhoods in the St. Louis region. To this end Provident provides ex-offender counseling and case management.
Case managers assess each client’s individual needs and help clients access employment, housing, clothing, bus passes and other basic needs. Provident counselors provide individual and group counseling services to address the mental health needs of clients.
Provident believes in the ability of our ex-offender programs to support clients in productive living and to prevent future crimes. We thank the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis for their support of Provident’s vital programs. Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis is a local funder that supports efforts to see the Church brought into lives of hurting people and people included in the healing life of the church.
